Leioichthys glacialis

The first Leioichthys glacialis ever found, swimming live. Its hidden genes stay hidden.

Leioichthys glacialis flabellitubulata is a species of alien fish in Fish of Ganymede: a torpedo with a low dorsal fin, Ice Shelf colouring, a fan tail and a tube mouth. It lives in under the ice, 0 m to 300 m under Ganymede’s ice. It was first found by Brine Finder 320 on 2 November 2026.

What the name means

Leioichthys glacialis means roughly “icy smooth-fish”: from leio- (smooth) and ichthys (fish), and glacialis (icy). Every species name is built from its genes: the dorsal fin and body plan give the genus, the colouring gives the species name, and the tail and mouth the last word.

How to find one

Dive to under the ice (it opens at diving level 1) and look for a torpedo with Ice Shelf colouring, or breed for it: you need all five of its traits to show at once, and some of them may be recessive, hidden in a parent’s second gene copy. The breeding screen shows the exact odds. See how fish genetics work.
